Greek Waters

Taken whilst on holiday in Rhodes, Greece this summer. This was taken on top of an old castle ruin about 300ft from sea level. I went an hour an a half walk myself and took about 380+ pictures of this area and this is just one of them. I like how the foreground is in focus and it gradually gets blurry until you get to the horizon line where it seems almost misty. I hope you like it! I can't see anyone commenting on this though, it's not 'hip n happenin' enough if you know what i mean as its just a 'waterscape'

Here's some more information about the actual castle that once stood there. Quite scary actually! There's caves all round this as you walk up, this must have taken them months to chisel out, they're almost perfectly square. Apparently the castle was under siege at one point for a number oy years and that was the way the occupants of the castle got out to get food without being seen! (i learned this information whilst sitting in one of the taverna's on Agathi beach to the left of this picture - i'll submit a picture of that too) Anyhoo here's the info...

Feraclos Castle

A castle actually used by pirates before the Knights of St. John ousted them, reinforced the castle than used it as a prison. Reached from the track by a footpath leading to steps It is a good climb and fairly rough underfoot. Make a mental note of the entry point into the castle since this is much less obvious on the return. Like many of these fortifications on the islands, the walls are the only significant remains. This one is no exception and the inside is overgrown with shrubs and other vegetation. Narrow footpaths lead around the enclosure and there are excellent views from the walls down to Agathi beach and to Haraki in the other direction.
